Class R success in Barnsley Green Belt
Prism Agriculture Ltd was granted approval for the Change of Use of a former agricultural livestock building to Use Class A1 (Shops) in Barnsley, South Yorkshire
The proposal utilises the existing footprint and steel portal-framed and brick / block of the former agricultural livestock building, retaining the visual agricultural character of the structure within the landscape to enhance the overall setting of the site whilst allowing a change of use from Agricultural to Use Class A1 (shops).
The Change of Use approval was secured under Class R of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended), which allows for the change of use of redundant agricultural buildings (and land within its curtilage) to a flexible business use, subject to the proposals meeting a set criteria. The seven Use Classes are:
Class A1 (shops)
Class A2 (financial and professional services)
Class A3 (restaurants and cafes)
Class B1 (business)
Class B8 (storage or distribution)
Class C1 (hotels)
Class D2 (assembly and leisure)
If you would like a Farm Shop, Shops, Cafe / Restaurant, Hotel, Office or Storage in a rural countryside location, this could be an ideal permitted development option for you.
