Class R success in South Yorkshire
Prism Agriculture Ltd was granted approval for the Change of Use of a former agricultural livestock building in the Green Belt to Use Class A1 (Shops) in South Yorkshire
The proposal utilises the existing footprint and steel portal-framed and brick / block of the former agricultural livestock building, retaining the visual agricultural character of the structure within the landscape to enhance the overall setting of the site whilst allowing a change of use from Agricultural to Use Class A1 (shops).
The Change of Use approval was secured under Class R of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended), which allows for the change of use of redundant agricultural buildings (and land within its curtilage) to a flexible business use, subject to the proposals meeting a set criteria. The seven Use Classes are:
Class A1 (shops)
Class A2 (financial and professional services)
Class A3 (restaurants and cafes)
Class B1 (business)
Class B8 (storage or distribution)
Class C1 (hotels)
Class D2 (assembly and leisure)
