Prism Ag offers a service as part of a site visit to collect soil samples, plant tissues or water for independent analysis at a Defra approved, UKAS Accredited laboratory.
Soil, Water and Plant tissue analysis is an important part of good agricultural practice and fundamental to the decision-making process in agricultural and horticultural businesses, whether that’s for grassland management, arable cropping, horticulture or planting fruit trees.
Due to an increased demand within the supply chain for food traceability, from agricultural commodities to primary producers, through to UK consumers, there is now greater need to justify agrochemical and fertiliser use through soil testing, plant tissue and water analysis. Although it’s stated, in various codes of good agricultural practice, Defra now recommends analysis to minimise the risks of pollution to the environment also.
During a site visit, Prism Ag can collect soil samples, plant tissues or water for analysis, the samples are then sealed and dispatched with relevant paperwork to a fully independent, Defra approved, UKAS accredited laboratory, who work to the internationally recognised standard for competence – ISO/IEC 17025. Upon completion of analysis, reports will be emailed to you.

PA01 STANDARD SOIL - AGRICULTURAL
Analysis includes: - pH, Available Phosphorus, Potassium and Magnesium. Results expressed as mg/l and ADAS Indices. Lime and fertiliser recommendations are available for most crops ref RB209 8th Edition.
PA02 STANDARD SOIL - AGRICULTURAL + TEXTURAL CLASSIFICATION
As Standard Soil but with the addition of Textural Class by Laser.
PA03 STANDARD SOIL - AGRICULTURAL + SODIUM & CALCIUM WITH ESTIMATED Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC)
Analysis includes Standard Soil with Ammonium Nitrate Extractable Sodium and Calcium with estimated CEC.
PA04 STANDARD SOIL - AGRICULTURAL + ORGANIC MATTER
As PA01 but with the addition of Organic Matter.
PA05 COMPREHENSIVE TRACE ELEMENT SUITE
Includes standard soil with Sodium, Calcium, Organic Matter, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Zinc, Sulphate and Boron with Cation Exchange Capacity if required.
PA06 SOIL HEALTH SUITE
As PA01 with the addition of Organic Matter [LOI], Textural Classification [Laser Diffraction] and Solvita CO2 burst test. Results include the Soil Health Index based on the Biological, Physical and Chemical tests.
PA07 SPECIFICATION FOR TOPSOIL [BS3882:2015]
Includes: - pH, Available Phosphorous, Potassium and Magnesium, Particle Size Distribution by Sieving and Sedimentation, Stones, Electrical Conductivity, Total Nitrogen, Exchangeable Sodium Percentage, Organic Matter, Calcium Carbonate, Phytotoxic and Visible Contaminants as per the British Standard.
PA08 SPECIFICATION FOR SUBSOIL [BS8601:2013]
Includes: pH, Electrical Conductivity, Particle Size Distribution by Sieving & Sedimentation, Stones, Extractable Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Exchangeable Sodium Percentage, Organic Matter [LOI], Calcium Carbonate & Phytotoxic & Visible Contaminants.
PA09 FOLIAR SUITE - N & S
Includes Nitrogen, Sulphur & N:S Ratio
PA10 PLANT FOLIAR SUITE
Includes Total Nitrogen and Sulphur with N:S Ratio, Total Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Copper, Manganese, Zinc, Iron and Boron.
PA11 HERBAGE NITRATE TEST
Includes Dry Matter, Moisture, Nitrate and Nitrate - Nitrogen levels in fresh material – FAPAS registered cold water extraction.
PA12 FULL PLANT FOLIAR SUITE
Recommended for Vegetable Crops - Includes Total Nitrogen and Sulphur with N:S ratio, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Copper, Boron, Iron, Zinc, Molybdenum and Sodium.
PA13 LIVESTOCK SUITABILITY
Includes Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Sulphate, Nitrate-Nitrogen, pH, Iron and Copper. Full interpretation and explanatory notes supplied with report.
PA14 IRRIGATION SUITABILITY
Includes Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Conductivity, Sulphate, Nitrate Nitrogen, pH, Carbonate and Bicarbonate, Phosphorus, Potassium, Boron and Total Dissolved Solids. Full interpretation of results including Sodium Adsorption Ratio SAR, potential toxicity assessment for boron, chloride and carbonates.
